SUNY University Center for Academic and Workforce Development (UCAWD) creates access to opportunity by giving New York State the programs that help eliminate barriers to education, including Educational Opportunity Centers (EOCs). EOCs provide no-cost training opportunities for people in their surrounding communities to create pathways to careers without debt.
Each year, SUNY UCAWD hosts the Black and Latino Caucus during February in Albany. This event provides a platform for legislators, EOC students, and fellow supporters of EOC programs to advocate for continued support and funding of EOC programs.
SUNY UCAWD partnered with W Beyer Creative to capture all events throughout the two-day legislative conference at Empire State Plaza, as well as conduct interviews with key figures and EOC directors. Deliverables included polished edits of all individual speeches and a 5-minute highlight video integrating strong speech snippets and lots of exciting supporting footage of the event action. High-profile leaders who spoke on behalf of the success of EOC programs included SUNY Chancellor John B. King, Jr., State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Assembly Majority Leader Crystal Peoples-Stokes, and Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan.

The videos were used to support advocacy efforts by SUNY UCAWD as well as create awareness across social media platforms about EOCs and the impact of these educational programs on communities across NYS.
